Brest – Smolevichi : Preview & Prediction

In the first division since 1992, Dinamo (or Dynamo) Brest is a regular in the Belarusian elite. Last year, the club achieved a huge feat by winning its first champion title in front of the historic Bate Borisov, 13 times defending champion since 2006. With 5 points ahead of its runner-up Borisov, only one small defeat in 30 league games, the best attack and the second best defense, Dinamo clearly earned their title. This season, the club obviously hopes to repeat the feat, but will still face the Bate who will be more motivated than ever to recover his lost crown. This season, the Brest club started off very well with a 2-0 victory in the Super Cup against Shakhtyor, and a qualification in the semi-final of the cup by beating Isloch in quarter (0-0 at the end of the two games, 3-5 tab).

Founded in 2009, FC Smolevitchi, or FK Smaliavitchy, started in the 3rd division of Belarus. After 3 seasons, in 2013 he entered the second division. The club initially stagnated for 4 years, before finishing second in its fifth year and reaching the Belarusian first division. A short stay which ends in 15th place (out of 16) and an immediate return to the second division. Ranked second last year, the club is back in the first division for the second time in its history, after spending only one season in the second division. This year, the promoted does not want to do the elevator but will have a lot to do in the first match against the defending champion.

Last year, Dinamo finished 3rd in the home league with 11 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss in 15 games.

The Brest, Belarus-based club also had the best home attack with 44 goals, and the 4th best defense with 12 goals conceded.

Smolevitchi had finished 2nd in the second division away, with 10 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss in 14 games.

FC Smolevitchi was also the 3rd best away division second attack with 31 goals scored, and especially the best defense with only 5 goals conceded.

FC Smolevitchi had an excellent season last year but there is still a big difference in level between the first and the second division. As a first test, the promoted will face the reigning champion Dinamo Brest, already well launched this season after his victory in the Supercup and his qualification for the Belarusian cup semi-final. Dinamo Brest win by at least two goals aside!
