Bulgaria vek other ambitions than to share the last place in Group G of these Euro 2024 qualifiers with Lithuania. The draw had not been so generous, but not so impossible either. In the end only Serbia seemed superior to the others, but Hungary held its own in the end. With Montenegro, at least on paper, the Bulgarians could play it out, and Lithuania was destined for a role of sparring partner. But that was not the case, considering that Bulgaria now finds itself forced to play a “final round” to avoid the shame of last place in the standings. No hope for eventual participation in Germany 2024, but at least the pride of not ending this run at the bottom of the rankings. Lithuania permitting, of course, which has exactly the same goal….
Both teams, in fact, have so far collected two points, including one in the direct clash….
The first leg match in Lithuania, in fact, ended in a draw: a 1-1 draw that displeased both.
Lithuania also drew at home against Montenegro, even scoring two goals (2-2 the final).
The other draw, on the other hand, Bulgaria got, again at home, but against Serbia (and always 1-1).
Lithuania away from home lost to both Hungary and Serbia, in both cases 2-0.
