Cadiz CF – Betis Prediction (19-10-2022)

Cadiz CF – Betis : Preview & Prediction

Cadiz occupies the penultimate position in LaLiga Santander (LL) at the start of the tenth matchday, but a four-game unbeaten streak (G1, E3) allows the yellow team to have options to leave the relegation zone this week. Sergio Gonzalez’s side, who missed their second win with a stoppage-time penalty in their 1-1 draw away to Girona on Saturday, have just one win to their name. The Cadiz squad has two points from a possible 15 at the Nuevo Mirandilla, where it has not beaten a team in the top half of the standings in LL 2021-22 since March.

That win came against Villarreal, who like Real Betis are involved in European competitions, and is one of only three home wins for Cadiz in 2022. In each of those, the Yellows scored all of their goals in the second half after reaching halftime at 0-0. Cadiz is struggling to score at home, averaging less than half a goal per game this season (0.4 p. p.).

It looks crucial for Cadiz to score in the opening 45 minutes to have any chance of upsetting Betis, who are coming off the back of winning both halves in their 3-1 victory over Almeria. Manuel Pellegrini’s side can concentrate fully on the domestic championship after securing a place in the Europa League play-offs with a 1-1 draw against Roma.

However, Los Verdiblancos are in a slump away from home in LL, having failed to beat their opponents on two occasions. It should also be noted that in their only away league win to date (2-1 vs. Mallorca), Betis scored both their goals from the penalty spot. The visit to La Tacita de Plata could be conducive to a return to winning ways away from home: Betis have won their last three away games against Cadiz, the most recent two after going in at half-time at 0-0.
Players to watch: A late Lucas Perez goal saved a point for Cadiz in their last meeting at the Nuevo Mirandilla. Three of the A Coruña striker’s four most recent goals have closed out the scoring. Borja Iglesias, who shone against Almeria with a goal and an assist, scored the winning goal for Betis last season (CAD 1-2 BET).
Key stat: Cadiz, who will face the team with the oldest player in LL (Joaquin Sanchez, 41), have conceded at least one goal by a player aged 32 or older in four of their last six matches.
