Colombia – Peru : Preview & Prediction
In terms of class and quality, Colombia has nothing to envy to any national team in the world: if we think of Cuadrado, Muriel, Zapata – just to name a few and those best known to us – it is clear that the squad is one of the exceptional ones, able to compete against anyone. It lacks – as often happens to particularly technical and brilliant formations – of continuity. So it happens to make great performances and then, subsequently, to run into sensational bad figures. It was not so sensational, but unexpected yes, we can say this, the draw against Venezuela in the last America’s Cup game. Now a reaction is expected against Peru, before the clash between the “titans” against the Brazil of Neymar and his companions …
As mentioned, Colombia did not go beyond a disappointing draw against Venezuela in the last round: the final result was even 0-0.
In the first game of this America’s Cup, however, Muriel and his team mates managed to beat Ecuador, albeit with the slightest gap (1-0).
In the previous match, valid for qualifying for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the Colombians had instead stopped Leo Messi’s Argentina at home (2-2 away).
On the other hand, Peru and Colombia recently faced each other also in the world qualifiers: last June 4 in Lima it was the Colombians who clearly imposed themselves (0-3).
The Peruvians, on the other hand, are not going through a particularly brilliant period (to put it mildly): out of their last six games they have lost five!
The score is completed by the debut victory in this America’s Cup against Ecuador (1-2 the final result), but for the rest, only disappointments have recently arrived for Peru, including the clear defeat against Brazil in the last exit. (4-0 for the green and gold). Colombia will try to take advantage of this difficult moment for their opponents, also because they will have to get full of enthusiasm before facing Neymar and teammates in the next round.
