FC Porto – Bayer Leverkusen : Preview & Prediction
Surprised by Krasnodar at the jump-off to enter the Champions League, Porto had to settle for the Europa League for this year. A qualification in sixteenths hardly acquired for Porto, although having finished first in its group, to the detriment of the Glasgow Rangers, second and 1 point behind, and the Young Boys of Berne, 3rd and two points behind the Portuguese club. In the league, the club is second, 1 point behind leader Benfica. Like almost every year, the title fight will be tough and full of suspense. Famous in European jousting, Porto won two Champions League (1987 and 2004) and two Europa League (2003 and 2011).
Bayer Leverkusen also had an excellent season. Fourth in the Bundesliga last year, the German club played the group stage in the Champions League this season. A complicated pool where the Bayer finished 3rd, behind Juventus and Atletico Madrid, and was therefore drafted in the sixteenth of the Europa League. The Leverkusen club are in good shape at the moment and are 5th in the Bundesliga (tied with 4th and 2 points behind 2nd, Dortmund). After a disputed but relatively well managed match, Leverkusen took the advantage in the first leg against Porto (2-1 victory in Germany).
