It’s probably not the most interesting match on Matchday 8 of the Premier League for keen observers, but it is for Fulham and Sheffield United. Bottom of the table with just one point from a possible 21, this season’s newcomers are off to an extremely complicated start, and if the situation doesn’t improve, the Championship could be their new home in a few months’ time. The team coached by Paul Heckingbottom will have to react quickly, and no matter how they score, the red-and-black crowd will be hoping for a win. To achieve this, the attack-defence combination has no choice but to raise its game, as the last 180 minutes have been nothing short of catastrophic: 0 goals scored – 10 conceded! The situation is not yet catastrophic, but it could very quickly become so if Marco Silva’s men continue in this bad way. Although the period since mid-September has been positive, with three consecutive games without a single defeat for the Cottagers, they had a very poor game against Chelsea, losing 2-0. Luck is on their side, however, as they return to Craven Cottage against a promoted side, aiming to get back to winning ways very quickly. One thing’s for sure: if the black and whites find themselves unable to dominate this opponent, then the fight for survival could well become a real one for the former Championship side!
