In the group C of the Turkish Cup, the two top clubs Genclerbirligi Ankara and Fenerbahce Istanbul currently have the best cards. While the capital club was already able to reach the next round, the canaries from Istanbul are still worried about their progress. On the 5th day of this group, the teams will be in the game.
Genclerbirligi was undoubtedly able to dominate this group – in four games they not only scored 12 points, but scored 16 goals and conceded only one goal. Besideiyespor (3-0) and Amed SK (6-0), there were also two away legs with Amed SK (5-0) and Fenerbahce (2-1) in Istanbul. Despite the sometimes strong performances in December, the team started out badly into the season. In the first league game of the year there was a clear 0: 3-clapping at Kasimpasa SK. Genclerbirligi, however, managed to convince Genclerbirligi in the current season. In ten home games they recorded five wins and four draws and conceded only a 1: 1 defeat against Galatasaray Istanbul. Striking: In the league there were in eight home games a goal ratio of 8: 3 goals. During the winter break, the team performed another small facial change. With Ahmet Calik (Galatasaray), Irfan Can Kahveci (Basaksehir) and Bogdan Stancu (Bursaspor), three important players left the club. Bady (Atletico-Paranaense), Agon Mehmeti (Stabaek IF), Jonathan Ring (Kalmar FF) and Luccas Claro (Coritiba FC) have been strengthened.
For Fenerbahce Istanbul, the group phase began to have a bad start, as they lost their first group game against Genclerbirligi Ankara (1: 2) and then collected only one point at Amed SK (1: 1). In the last two matches the canaries were able to win six points against Menemen Belediyespor (1: 0, 6: 0). There was a mistake in the league, however, after two successive victories in the first league game of the year, a 2-2 home win against Adanaspor. This point advantage was clearly too little in the fight for the championship and ultimately even a bit happy, because they scored the equalizer by a penalty. Coach Dick Advocaat is currently missing Moussa Sow, who is at the Africa Cup. Volkan Sen and Mehmet Topal will also be canceled. In Ankara, Dick Advocaat will certainly make a few changes and also give players from the bank times.
