Greece – Liechtenstein : Preview & Prediction
Fifth at eight points from second place, Greece sees qualifying for the final round of the European Championships as a mirage. The continental champions of 2004 have behind them only the small Liechtenstein which has so far lost all the games played. Clear that in a scenario of this type the Hellenic are favored in the race that at the Olympiako Stadium Spyros Louis will see them engaged against the small Alpine state. Both teams were beaten in the last round: Greece, on whose bench the Dutchman Johnny Van’t Schip sits today, lost 1-0 to Finland, while Mario Frick’s Liechtenstein was outclassed in Bosnia for 5 -0.
Liechtenstein has lost all qualifying matches so far without scoring a single goal.
Greece won already in Vaduz for 0-2 in the first leg.
In the previous four since 2004, Greece has won three times 2-0 and once 1-0.
It is the second time that Greece hosts Liechtenstein. The previous one dated 15 October 2013 was won by Greece 2-0.
Our choice is to focus on the “winning home team in both times”. All in all a good standard considering what on paper looks like an important gap.
