Marcelo Bielsa’s time at Leeds came to an end this week with the departure of the Argentinian coach following some very poor results for his team recently. The mission of Jesse Marsch, former coach of Leipzig, will not be easy. The Peacocks are sixteenth in the table and two points above the relegation zone. They have just conceded twenty-five goals in eight PL games, or to put it another way, fourteen goals in the last three. In other words, defensively, nothing is going right and a team that needs to maintain its position must first find some defensive stability. Last year’s 3-1 win at the King Power Stadium will have fans hoping for the same result on the scoreboard, which would be a first for the American coach.
Will the return of Jamie Vardy bring back the Leicester of the early season? After a long absence, one of the best strikers in the game has seen his club drop several places in the league over the last few weeks and his return has been long awaited by Foxes fans. Despite their defeat at Wolverhampton, the Brendan Rodgers-coached side qualified for the last 16 in the Conference League and have just returned to winning ways at Burnley with a 2-0 victory thanks to the Maddison – Vardy duo. Against a wounded beast, this is the time to follow up and regain a place in the top half of the table before the end of the season.
