Marseille – Dijon: Preview & Prediction

Olympique de Marseille could not have dreamed of a better start in this French Ligue 1 championship. Indeed, the reception of Dijon, a team from the second part of the table, should allow the Phoenicians to start on good bases.

This season, Olympique de Marseille will be expected on all the fields of France and in Europe, because OM has just started the “Champion’s Project”.

If Neymar has disembarked at PSG, Olympique de Marseille is not ashamed of his recruitment because the Phocaeans went to look for experienced players to play Europe and a place in the Champions League, Luiz Gustavo of Bayern Munich, Valere Germain of AS Monaco, Adil Rami of Sevilla FC and Steve Mandanda of Crystal Palace.

OM want to believe in its chances this season and besides, the beginnings are promising. If the Marseille have beaten friendly formations, Fenerbahçe (1-0) or Sporting Lisbon (2-1), Patrive Evra’s partners have just qualified for the next round of the Europa League.

In front of the KV Ostend, OM had been effective at home with a 4-2 win and in Belgium, the Marseille were solid around Adil Rami (0-0).

Last season, only PSG and AS Monaco had won at the Vélodrome, so the mission promises to be impossible for FC Dijon. In 2016-2017, the Burgundians had hung a draw on the Canebiere before OM went on to win at home ahead of Saint Etienne (4-0), OGC Nice (2-1) and SC Bastia (1-0 ).

Unlike Marseille, the Dijon are not on the same dynamic, they have just bowed to a team in Ligue 2, Bourg Péronnas (0-2) and they have just been hooked by a promoted in Ligue 1 , RC Strasbourg (0-0).

FC Dijon has of course not the same goals as Marseille, especially as the Burgundians have just lost their top scorer, Loris Diony, left in Saint Etienne for 8.5 million euros.

With the departures of Diony, Abdelhamid, Lotiès, Lees Melou, Martin …, FC Dijon risks suffering in the first weeks. FC Dijon has not been inactive on the transfer market because the team has recovered Yambéré from Bordeaux, Sliti from Lille, Jeannot and Lautoa from FC Lorient and Saïd from Rennes …

It may be necessary to wait a few weeks before the automatisms are to the point, so privilege a success of the Olympique de Marseille, especially at the Vélodrome!
