Midtjylland – Feyenoord Prediction (06-10-2022)

Midtjylland – Feyenoord : Preview & Prediction

Both Midtjylland and Feyenoord won by margins of four goals or more in the previous round of UEFA Europa League (UEL) group matches, results that left all four teams level on three points ahead of matchday three. The Danish side have played consecutive league games at home after their 5-1 win over Lazio, but their Super League success this season has been limited by their tendency to draw too many games (G3, E5, P3).
There is a small piece of history at stake for Midtjylland if they can win this game, as they have played Dutch opposition in each of the last two seasons, but have yet to win either of those matches (P4). Albert Capellas’ side seem to have a decent chance to reverse that poor run, as they are unbeaten in six of their last seven European home games (G3, E3).
Since an incredible 6-0 win over Sturm Graz in the final group game, Feyenoord have conceded five goals in two games in Eredivisie action (E1, P1). While their draw against NEC last time out came as something of a surprise, the blow was softened when all the Dutch ‘Big Three’ teams dropped points in the same round when not playing each other for the first time since 2020, in what was a weekend full of surprising results.
The Rotterdam side will be hoping for a better result this time around after going unbeaten in last year’s UEFA Conference League group stage, a competition in which they went all the way to the final. However, they have just one win away from home in their last four group games in European competitions and that may cause a degree of concern (G1, E2, P1). However, extending a 100% win rate against Danish teams may provide a strong enough incentive for Arne Slot’s men to manage to come away with the win on this occasion (G2).
Players to watch: Midtjylland’s top scorer in the league, Anders Deyers, used to play for Dutch side Heerenveen — he has contributed directly in goals in two of their last three official home games. Dreyer’s former Brighton teammate, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, has scored twice in as many games during this UEL campaign – both times scoring before half-time.
Weekend stat: Only one of Midjtylland’s last 15 official matches ended 0-0 at half-time.
