Newcastle rises from the ashes! After a difficult first few months in the Premier League, the legendary Alan Shearer’s team has finally emerged from the relegation zone with seven consecutive games without a single defeat in the league, with four wins and three draws. Thanks to a successful mercato and decisive recruits (Trippier in particular, who scored two goals), the Magpies are back to their best in the last few weeks and remain on the back of an important 2-0 win at Brentford, a team fighting for survival. With only two goals conceded in the last five games, the defence is looking more settled, which is reassuring for the entire squad. Without their best player Allan Saint-Maximin, Eddie Howe will have to rely on the likes of Wilson and Willock if they are to make it three at St James’ Park.
The mid-table team, Brighton, are in a very bad situation with a zero score in their last three games. Graham Potter’s side have failed to find the back of the net, conceding seven goals in the process. Despite a defeat at Old Trafford on 15 February, the Seagulls have been solid on the road, winning two and drawing four since 1 December 2021. Better defensively than their opponents on the day (15 goals less), Yves Bissouma’s teammates must rely on their defensive solidity to bring home a positive result from NUFC.
