NEWCASTLE – TOTTENHAM PREDICTION (13.08.2017)

Newcastle vs Tottenham: Preview & Prediction

The traditional Newcastle makes this Sunday, August 13, their re-screening in the Premier League. After bittering Segundona, he was champion of the Championship the previous season. At St. James Park, will be in front, from 9.30 am (GMT), Tottenham, vice English Premier League in 2016/2017.

Newcastle

Still far removed from the times that it had sufficient resources for big investments, Newcastle maintained the base that led the team again to the elite of British football and did what is often called ‘punctual hiring’. The highlights were Florian Lejeune of Eibar and Christian Atsu of Chelsea.

One of the club’s biggest stars is right on the bench. Spanish coach Rafa Benitez was hired in an emergency to try to avoid relegation. Failed. But he has decided to stay for the winning campaign in the Championship and is in charge of the team.

The preseason can be considered cheerleading. In six games, Newcastle won four times: Verona (2 to 0), Wolfsburg (3 to 1), Bradford (4 to 0) and Hearts (2 to 1). He had a draw (1 to 1 with Preston) and was defeated in an opportunity (Mainz, by 2 to 1). They were not first-rate rivals. However, back in the Premier League, Newcastle’s top-flight campaign is not expected. The goal is to stay away from the fall threat.

To take the first step in this direction, Benitez will not have at his disposal two male athletes who are in injury treatment. They are: defender DeAndre Yedlin and striker Dwight Gayle.

Tottenham

Although they did not reach the title, Tottenham were able to make their fans happy in the 2016/2017 English League season. For the first time in more than two decades the team completed the tournament in front of arch-rival Arsenal. A glory for a club that does not have as much investment potential as the local opponent.

To try to improve its capacity of collection in the future, Tottenham enters a period of cows a little thinner. The traditional White Heart Lane stadium will be replaced by a new stadium. The construction of the new home should take at least a year. Therefore, the team led by Argentine coach Maurício Pochettino will have to make their matches in the 2017/2018 season at Wembley Stadium.

The expense of building a new, more luxurious stadium with the capacity to attract more fans obviously requires a lot of money. Thus, the money for hiring is scarce. This has meant that the signing season, which runs through early September, has passed virtually blank so far for Tottenham. Pochettino still hopes to have reinforcements. However, at the beginning of the tournament, it will have to do with the base of last year.

It is a very well set up team, which was the least leaked of the Premier League, with only 26 goals conceded. The attack is not far behind. Having Harry Kane as the main highlight, it was the most efficient of the 2016/2017 season rocking the network of rivals in 86 opportunities.

Tottenham overcame rival Chelsea on both counts, but ended up losing the title by squandering opportunities to score more. He drew eight games while the Blues had only three equal ones throughout the year. That’s why Chelsea took the title even though they suffered more defeats (5 to 4) than Tottenham.

The lack of a better performance in the games considered key also cost the elimination still in the group phase of the Champions League and, in the sequence, in the kills of the Europa League. In some of those moments, the team felt the lack of some of their main players, who were injured. The players available on the booking bench were not able to replace them at the next level.

This difficulty continues. Thus, Pochettino will have to rely on luck and hope not to lose his most important pieces in decisive confrontations. For the Premier League debut this Sunday, there are two casualties. Defender Kieran Trippier and striker Heung-Min Son are injured.
