Premier League Predictions – Betting on the Winners and Losers of the New Season

At time of writing, there remains exactly one month to go before Arsenal host Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium on August 11th, 2017

For players, pundits, and fans alike, this Friday night clash between the reigning FA Cup holders and the surprise winners of the 2015 – 2016 season means only one thing:

The start of a brand new 2017 – 2018 Premier League season.

From mid-August through to mid-May, the best in British football will go head-to-head across the length and breadth of the country to determine which team will be crowned undisputed kings of the sport.

Of course, all of this begs some very, very important questions:

Who will prevail come next spring?

Which teams are expected to crash and burn back into the lower echelons of UK football?

How will newly promoted sides like Brighton and Newcastle United fair now that they’re in the top flight of British football?

To find out, we’ve done our research.

We’ve looked at the kind of odds given by top bookmakers, listened to top experts in the media, and of course, added our own in-depth analysis to answer these very questions.

So, whether you’re planning to bet on the winner of the Premier League this season, or simply curious as to how your team will fair, here’s our expert predictions on the winners and losers of the new season.
Who Will Win the 2017 – 2018 Premier League?

Given their run-away success last season, it would be foolish not to give Chelsea the nod for this time around.

Despite losing out to Arsenal in a disappointing effort at the FA Cup Final, Antonio Conte’s men displayed outright dominance throughout much of their campaign, and spent much of the season sitting aloft at the top of the table by several points.

Yet they’re not the only ones expected to do well this year. Most bookmakers have made Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City their odds-on favourites to win the Premier League in 2018.

The northern side finished third last season on 78 points, with only Londoners Tottenham standing in between them and Chelsea on 86 points.

Yet with reports of some big money transfers taking place over the summer, not to mention some solid performances at the end of last season, The Citizens certainly seem poised for success this year.

Put your money on: Chelsea, but don’t count Man City out of the running.

Who Will Be Relegated at the End of the 2017 – 2018 season?

Most bookies list Huddersfield Town and Brighton & Hove Albion as their top picks to go down at the end of the season, closely followed by Burnley, Swansea City, and Watford.

In the case of the former, the fact that both clubs are playing in the Premier League for the first time in their history, and that 30 and 45 years respectively have gone by since each club played in the top flight of British football.

Given the tough period of adjustment most clubs face on first arriving in the upper echelon of the game, the chances of relegation do seem high.

On the flip side however, you have to consider that both clubs, along with the third promoted side, Newcastle United, delivered valiant performances at the end of last season, compared to the likes of Burnley, Swansea, and Watford, who struggled throughout their Premier League campaign.

Winning only 11 out of 38 games last year, Watford and Burnley seem like the biggest contenders for relegation this year.

Put your money on: Watford – They gave away more goals last season than any other club currently in the Premier League. Burnley should also be given serious consideration.
