Slovan Bratislava – Hesperange : Preview & Prediction
In Bratislava, the first match between Slovan and Swift Hesperange kicks off this Wednesday, July 12, as part of the Champions League qualifiers. Slovan won last season’s championship after a hard-fought duel with Dunajska Streda, and their good run in the Conference League (through to the quarter-finals) gives them the economic resources to widen the gap on their rivals. Even though they’ve only recently made their debut in European soccer, they’re off to a good start and can’t afford to fail in their first fixture of the season. Swift, a team from the Luxembourg suburb of Hesperange, won their first championship last year and therefore start with the enthusiasm of those who have nothing to lose in this European adventure, as well as a certain awareness of their means.
