Venezuela – Colombia: Preview & Prediction

With only six points (one win, three draws and ten losses), Venezuela has no chance of reaching a place in the World Cup. Thus, the remaining four rounds serve only for the team to meet the given table.

In this double round, besides the Colombians, the Venezuelans will face Argentina. They will not be able to count on one that is considered one of its main players, if not the main one. The midfielder, from Palmeiras, said he did not want to wear the shirt anymore. He had indicated that he had this intention when asking for exemption from the call for friendly matches against the United States and Ecuador.

It was not the only loss of coach Rafael Dudamel. Injured, striker Adalberto Peñaranda of Malaga (Spain) can not be called. Without short-term pretensions, the coach began a process of renewal calling seven athletes who took Venezuela to the vice in the U-20 World Championship. The biggest highlight of the selection in the competition was goalkeeper Wuilker Fariñez, who plays in Caracas.

Dudamel summoned three dozen athletes for the duels. Are they:

Goalkeepers: Wuilker Fariñez (Caracas), Jose Contreras (Deportivo Táchira) and Carlos Olses (Deportivo La Guaira);

Defenders: Alexander González (Huesca), Victor García (Vitória de Guimarães), Pablo Camacho (Deportivo Táchira), José Manuel Velázquez (Veracruz), Jhon Chancellor (Dolphin), Mikel Villanueva (Cádiz), Edwin Peraza (Deportivo La Guaira) Rolf Feltscher (Getafe), Rubert Quijada (Al Gharafa) and José Hernández (Caracas);

Socks: Tomás Rincón (Torino), Yangel Herrera (New York City), Arquímedes Figuera (University), Junior Moreno (Zulia), Francisco Flores (Mineros de Guayana), Jhon Murillo (Kasimpasa), Jefferson Savarino Sergio Córdova (Augsburg), Romulo Otero (Atlético Mineiro), Darwin Machís (Granada), Yeferson Soteldo (Huachipato) and Samuel Sosa (Deportivo Táchira-);

Attackers: Salomón Rondón (West Bromwich), Josef Martinez (Atlanta United), Christian Santos (Alavés), Edder Farías (Once Caldas) and Ronaldo Chacón (Caracas).
The current form of Colombia

After starting the previous double qualifying round for Russia 2018 out of the qualifying zone, Colombia managed to take the lead in the race by beating Bolivia 1-0 at home and Ecuador 2-1 away 0. Scored 24 points (seven wins, three draws and four losses).

However, this is not a definitive situation. Argentina, which after 14 days is only in the recapture zone, in fifth place, has only two points less. Thus, the duel against a eliminated selection is considered a key game. Even because the next Colombian rival is the Brazilian team, already guaranteed in the Russian World.

Although not in good phase, Palmeiras striker Borja was called up by Argentine coach Jose Pekkerman. He called yet another Colombian athlete playing in Brazilian football: the Cuellar flier, from Flamengo. The great star of the company, however, is Falcao Garcia, who makes a start of the season sweeping with Monaco, leader of the French Championship. He rocked the net in the first four rounds.

Also called James Rodriguez midfielder, from Bayern Munich. There is, however, no certainty as to its use. The 26-year-old suffered a thigh injury on Aug. 1 and was out of the last five matches of the German team.

The so-called athletes were:

Goalkeepers: David Ospina (Arsenal), Leandro Castellanos (Santa Fe) and Camilo Vargas (Atletico Nacional);

Defensores: Cristian Zapata (Milan), Davinson Sánchez (Tottenham), Santiago Arias (PSV), Stefan Medina (Monterrey), Óscar Murillo (Pachuca), Francisco Meza (Tigres), Frank Fabra (Boca Juniors), Faríd Díaz And William Tesillo (Santa Fe);

Guillermo Celis (Vitória de Guimarães), Giovanni Moreno (Shanghai Shenhua), Edwin Cardona (Boca Juniors), Wilmar Barrios (Boca Juniors) and Carlos Sánchez (Fiorentina), Juan Guillermo Cuadrado (Juventus), James Rodríguez (Bayern Munich) ), Gustavo Cuellar (Flamengo), Abel Aguilar (Deportivo Cali) and Yimmi Chará (Júnior Barranquilla)

Attackers: Luis Fernando Muriel (Sevilla), Falcao García (Monaco), Miguel Ángel Borja (Palmeiras) and Teófilo Gutiérrez (Júnior Barranquilla).
