Varberg are having a mediocre campaign in the fight against relegation in this division and come into the match occupying thirteenth place in the league table, the first outside the relegation zone, with 11 points, one behind Varnamo and four above Degerfors. Only one win in their last eight official games leaves Joakim Persson’s side under pressure, especially after two consecutive defeats in their last away games. Last Monday, Varberg lost 4-1 at home to Elfsborg in a rather negative return to official competition after a month’s break.
