Chelsea are already well on their way to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. They were drawn against LOSC in this double-header, and twice because the draw had to be redone. Thomas Tuchel’s men put themselves in the best conditions after the first leg at home. They obtained a precious two-goal victory (2-0). The London club will now have to finish the job when they travel to Lille. The current third-placed team in the Premier League has won five consecutive matches in the league, and will not want to be afraid of the big occasion. They will not want to scare themselves in this Champions League round of 16 second leg. LOSC, on the other hand, achieved a feat in the group stage of the Champions League. With their backs against the wall in the first three games, Lille won the second leg to finish top of the table. But the Dogues have little chance against a top European club. It’s a good thing the team is in sixth place in Ligue 1, but Jocelyn Gourvennec’s team is far from convincing on the national stage. It is a good thing that the team has just been beaten by AS Saint-Etienne in the league (0-0). It’s a good thing that the team has been given a big blow with the injury to Renato Sanches. The Portuguese midfielder will not be present for this round of 16 second leg and is out for at least three weeks. Without one of its best players, it is difficult to imagine Lille achieving the feat. Chelsea should do the job and reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League with peace of mind.
