The fight for the 3rd place in group F of the Africa Cup of Nations will take place between Mauritania and Gambia, teams that meet in round 1, starting with 18:00. Mauritania is easily the favorite in this confrontation, more in terms of its experience, “Scorpions” being the first participation in history.

Trained from the sidelines by Belgian Saintfiet, Gambia finished the preliminaries in first place, with a total of 10 points, tied with Aubameyang’s national team, Gabon, and one more than the next D.R. Congo.
Since the end of the qualifying campaign in March 2021, Gambia has played no less than 6 friendly matches by the end of the year, signing only 3 victories against Togo (1-0), Niger (2-0) and South Sudan. (2-1).
Following the cancellation of the pre-AFCON match against Algeria due to precautionary measures regarding COVID-19, Gambia played at the end of the previous year the last friendly, the one against New Zealand, won by the white-blues with the score of 2-0.
