At the start of the twenty-sixth day of the Italian championship, Sampdoria of Genoa receives Empoli for a clash between two teams which are in the second part of the table. Eleventh in the standings, the Azzurri have a certain margin ahead of their opponent but remain in eight consecutive games without the slightest victory in Serie A with a record of three defeats and five draws.
