Real Madrid – Manchester City : Preview & Prediction
We are already looking forward to the second leg between Real Madrid and Manchester City! In the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, these two teams offered certainly the most beautiful match of this edition of the C1. At the end of a very intense match, it was Manchester City who finally managed to win at home (4-3). Pep Guardiola’s men only have a one-goal lead heading into their trip to the Santiago Bernabeu. The current Premier League leaders will be expecting to put themselves in the clear very quickly by taking the lead. With four consecutive wins in all competitions, the Manchester club can expect to win on the road. Manchester City will be looking to build confidence by beating one of the top teams in the competition.
It will be difficult to pull off another miracle for Real Madrid. Since the start of the finals, the Madrid club has been on a run of upsets. In the last 16 against PSG, Carlo Ancelotti’s team lost the first leg 1-0 and lost by a goal in the return leg, before Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick (3-1). The French striker was at his best again in the next round against Chelsea. He scored another hat-trick in the first leg in London before scoring the winner in the return leg in extra time. These Merengues are showing some crazy strength of character in this competition. But it’s hard to see Manchester City cracking. They are certainly the best team Real Madrid have faced in this competition. And the Sky Blues could well take advantage of the spaces that will be left by the Madrid club, to leave no room for suspense.
Ahead of the long-awaited return leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid and Manchester City look to be in similar form. The Spanish champions were crowned champions last weekend after beating Espanyol at home (4-0) and will now face a City side that also won at Leeds (0-4) on Saturday. After the dantesque match proposed in the first leg last week (4-3), the two teams should offer us another tight duel. In any case, in terms of form, there is no real advantage for either of these two teams.
